What is cynicism in simple words

In simple words, cynicism is a worldview that denies higher feelings and motivations in the form of love, selflessness, and sacrifice. Often, a cynic is convinced of the illusory nature of love, considering it not an amazing feeling, but a set of chemical reactions and imposed attitudes. I do not justify the boor, the cynic and the vulgar. I just ask you to remember that with our roots we are invulnerable. “But they will teach our children!” No, we teach our children ourselves. Including when we are too busy with ourselves, we hand them over to be torn to pieces by boors, feed them to cynics, and throw them into the ditch among the vulgar.

But where do they come from, these cynics? And why are they so shamelessly successful? The simplest answer is: because we read them, watch them, like them. Their cynicism sells too well, and not just for money.

We feed them with emotions every day, even when ninety-nine out of a hundred people don’t know about them. We throw our shock, our contempt at these omnivorous beasts - we feed the trolls. We allow the press to call them “beauty bloggers” and “TV stars,” “stars” and “socialites.” We tolerate next to us their fans from the Achotacova tribe, greedy for their non-lethal sins, their pornographic freedom, their rollicking wealth. If a cynic advertises a product, we continue to use this product, making excuses like flies and cutlets. And if the cynic is on the “first button” of the TV, we don’t erase it from the TV, because “where else can I watch the New Year?”

But this simple answer is incomplete, and therefore dishonest, because all our money will not be enough for them to buy Maybachs. The main cynics cannot survive without a stable salary and a legally verified contract. Who invites them to an endless corporate party?

This is done by the stillborn elite of Russia. Sometimes this is explained by boredom, more often by bravado, and always by lack of taste. And most importantly, everyone is there. The high-status Russian elitist has a wife who is a socialite herself, their daughter is a beauty blogger, and their son is a star’s lover. All three fly with the cynics in the same business jet to Paris, compare diamonds, condemn the “atmosphere of hatred in this country” in identical terms, and wear identical fur coats to fight the regime. The regime steadfastly resists throughout the working day, and on weekends and holidays it’s either tennis with a boor, or a concert with a vulgar person.
