Many people are already tired of the selfishness and anger that reign in the world. Every day the news reports new atrocities, and they cause serious doubts about the ability of a person to show kindness and care for anyone other than himself. However, there are stories of people who, through their actions, set an example of kindness and compassion.
An example of mercy from life: adopting a sick child
Peter and Olga Sveshnikov have two children, and both babies were taken from an orphanage. Moreover, both children have serious illnesses. 6-year-old Lesha was diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Little Dasha has Down syndrome. By their actions, the Sveshnikovs showed a true example of mercy from life.
Olga and Peter have been volunteers for a long time. Previously, they went to orphanages, visited institutions for lonely elderly people, and also went to help in the flooded Krymsk. The couple always talks with a smile about how they manage to do good deeds. They always remember stories of adoption with humor. Peter still remembers how he read Irina Yasina’s post on LiveJournal about a baby with Duchenne muscular dystrophy, who was abandoned by his own mother. The child spoke very poorly and had difficulty climbing stairs. One married couple tried to adopt Lesha. But soon they returned him to the orphanage again. Since then, the child has suffered psychological trauma on top of everything else.
Personal experience
I'll share my story. Of course, this is just a small light grain, but everyone helps their neighbor to the best of their ability. So, I’m standing at the ticket office at the station, buying a ticket. A woman distracts me, starts the dialogue with an apology, says that she lives in another city, now she needs to return home, but there is not enough money for the return trip. I know that some individuals make money from gullible people - take a small change from one, then from another, a third. But no one can read a person's thoughts. How do you know if they are telling you the truth or not?
The woman didn't ask for much. She said that she was short of some money. She didn't even have a bank card with her. Stupid situation. I sympathize with her and give her money. The amount is really small. The stranger remained grateful. Believe it or not, she and I were traveling on the same bus, and upon arriving in the city, the lady asked me to dictate her own phone number so that she could then make an appointment and return the money. Of course, I had to refuse - the act was too trivial. But I was pleased. I would really like everyone to help those around them in at least some way. The world would become a little kinder.
New house
Olga and Peter, having learned about the sad story of the child, decided to adopt him. The married couple understood: a child with such a diagnosis has practically zero possibilities for adoption. In order to receive the status of adoptive parents, the couple officially signed their names, and they also made renovations to the apartment. The last step is graduating from foster parent school.
Lesha came to his new family as if it were his own home. At first, the baby could hardly do anything and was extremely shy. The father taught his son to swim in the river, and now Lesha is not afraid of water. This family is a real example of mercy in people's lives.

History of the Belogortsevs
Married couple Olga and Sergei Belogortsev do not have alarm clocks at home. Every morning they wake up to the barking of their pets. Olga hurries to prepare breakfast for them. Meanwhile, Sergei is cleaning up the yard. Four years ago, they could not even imagine that they would lead such a lifestyle.
And it all started with an accident. Sergei’s friend owed him money and decided to pay him off in a different way - he brought him a mastiff puppy named Gretta. At first, Sergei didn’t even think about leaving the dog at home. He advertised for sale and has already found buyers. The evening before the deal, Sergei went out for a walk with Gretta. Suspecting nothing, he buried himself in the phone, when suddenly a noise was heard from behind. Turning around, Sergei saw Gretta knock a man to the ground. He, mad with fear, ran away. Sergei saw a hammer on the ground: apparently, it was a robber whose dog prevented him from committing a crime and thereby saved his life. After this, of course, Sergei did not sell the dog, because it saved his life. Unfortunately, some time later Gretta died of a heart attack.
Why is the family of Sergei and Olga also an example of mercy from life? The fact is that in memory of the dog, they decided to open a shelter for four-legged animals at home with their own money. They built several enclosures in the yard. Over the course of four years, they produced about a hundred dogs, almost all of which later managed to find new owners. They treat the most exhausted animals right at home.
However, Sergey and Olga do not give away all the animals - there are also those that they decided to keep. For example, the dog Rada, whose tendons were cut. Her character is not very friendly, so the couple, not knowing how she would behave in her new home, decided to keep Rada with them. Olga is a veterinarian by profession, and Sergey is an entrepreneur. It costs about 20 thousand rubles a month to maintain a horde of pets. Now the Belogortsev family has 20 dogs. Having cured and distributed some, they recruit new ones. They dream of building larger enclosures for their pets. The first step has already been taken - the family has purchased a plot of land.
When comrades are in trouble
A police captain from Primorye saved a drowning man at the cost of his life. The tragedy took place in the Lazovsky district of the region. On January 27, 32-year-old inspector of the traffic police service of the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate of the Partizansky Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, Andrei Polishchuk, was not on duty - a day off. He and two of his comrades, residents of the villages of Danilchenkovo and Lazo, decided to get out into nature. The dirt road was heavily covered with snow, so they decided to drive along the frozen Chernaya River. The ice could not stand it - and the car sank sharply.
Andrey was sitting in the front passenger seat and could easily get out of the sinking car. But he rushed to save his comrades. First he pushed the driver out of the car, then dived for the second passenger. But it was already too late - they failed to escape from the icy water.
The captain is survived by his wife, a 10-year-old daughter and a five-month-old son. As reported by the regional Ministry of Internal Affairs, his family was provided with assistance. The management of the department intends to petition for Andrei Polishchuk to be nominated posthumously for a state award.

The act of the crane operator
In 2021, Tamara Pastukhova, a crane operator from St. Petersburg, provided another example from life on the topic of mercy. She heroically saved the lives of three construction workers. Risking her life, she helped them get out of the fire. The fire broke out in the evening on a section of the highway under construction. The insulation and sheathing of reinforced concrete bridge piers caught fire. The total area of the fire was about one hundred meters. When the fire started, the woman heard the screams of the workers - they became hostages of the fire that broke out right on the scaffolding. A cradle was attached to the crane boom, and the workers were lowered to the ground. Tamara herself also had to be rescued from the fire.
Mother Teresa's work
In 1999, on the threshold of the new millennium, Americans voted to recognize Mother Teresa as the most revered person of the century. And according to a CNN poll, she was more admired than Martin Luther King, John Kennedy, Albert Einstein and Helen Keller.
What makes her so special?
Mother Teresa, born Agnez Gonce Bojaxhiu and called the Angel of Mercy, was a missionary and nun of the Roman Catholic Church who dedicated her entire life to helping others. Today, when people think of saints, they usually think of Mother Teresa.
Mother Teresa
In 1950, Mother Teresa founded the Order of the Missionaries of Charity, whose main task was to care for the sick, homeless and helpless. In 1979, Mother Teresa was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. However, one highly controversial study conducted in 2013 suggested that Mother Teresa's reputation and saintliness may be somewhat exaggerated. She truly dedicated her life to helping others, but her homes for the dying sometimes could offer nothing more than prayer to alleviate suffering.
Mother Teresa died in 1997.
How to become merciful?
It is not enough just to know examples of mercy from life. This quality can be learned. To become merciful, you need to do good deeds. The easiest way to find mercy is to be around those who need help. For example, someone may feel compassion for an old man in need of help, another for an orphan. The third will want to do good deeds for people in the hospital. Mercy is shown where there is human need. An essay about mercy and real-life examples may contain the stories described. You can also do good deeds on your own.
What is mercy and how to protect your borders when quality is taken advantage of
Mercy is a personality trait, a willingness to help, forgive, support without pursuing personal interests. It is expressed more in deeds than in words. And only true manifestation is beneficial. Many people do not even suspect that their help cannot be called mercy.

Work of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation
The work of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is not only a dramatic act of kindness, but also a dramatic act of charity.
Bill Gates, as part of a program he co-created with Warren Buffett, has publicly pledged to donate half the money he earned during his lifetime to charity. By 2011, Bill and Melinda Gates had already transferred $28 billion (that is, more than a third of their fortune) to the Foundation.

The foundation provides money to a wide variety of organizations to help solve global problems such as poverty and hunger, solve global health issues such as preventative vaccinations and ensure access to reliable medicines. The foundation, for example, gave $112 million to Save the Children to help at-risk newborns and $456 million to MVI, which is developing new vaccines against malaria.
